Bit of a bumpy start to day 1. Was out with friends the night before watching the Sydney fireworks. Probably got home about 4.30am, slept in till pretty much midday. Did my first meditation around 2pm which was Day 3 on Sam Harris’s Waking Up app. I did the first 2 days in December, was tempted to go back but I feel like it should be ok. Did feel more relaxed afterwards although my hangovers usually give me pretty bad depression and anxiety and this was the case today. Also didn’t help that this was the 3rd night in a row I was drinking alcohol (gotta love the Xmas holidays).
My second meditation was around 11.30am in bed. I did one of the Headspace sleepcasts which was ok. Problems I had with this was that I went to bed pretty late, and there was a little bastard mosquito which made it hard to relax.
Lessons learnt: Try and get at least 2 meditations in before bedtime, anything extra is a bonus. Also, add in side quest.
